RedTribe Multi-Colored Beadwork Necklace
A beautifully crafted necklace made by a Maasai woman in a remote village in Kenya.
This necklace is made by Noolarami and all profits enable her to prvide for her family and empwer Maasai girls through education.
Becca Marais moved from Ealing London to a remote and rural part of Kenya with her family and set up RedTribe
RedTribe wants to empower the marginalized Maasai women by helping them earn money to provide for their families. The income also helps pay for a female teacher at the local Maasai academy.
Becca designs the jewellery and 20 artisans create the pieces. They meet every Tuesday and sit under the shade of the trees outside the beadwork room and drink sweet chai, chat, laugh and make jewellery together.
The artisans get paid every week and collect beads and new designs to take home. They continue their beadwork to fit in with their other work at home like collecting wood and water, looking after their cows and their families.
